Cartier Launches Follow-Up Drilling on its Polymetalic Discovery

Val-d’Or, Quebec, January 14th, 2010 – Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) (”Cartier”) is pleased to announce that it has commenced its follow-up drilling on its polymetalic discovery (refer to December 2nd, 2009 press release) on the MacCormack property. An InfiniTEM® survey was conducted over a one kilometre strike length over the discovery area. Drilling will focus on the best sections of the geophysical anomaly. The anomaly (conductor) is associated with the massive sulphide mineralization (4.81% Zn, 0.41% Cu, 28.7 g/t Ag and 0.27 g/t Au over 1.25 metres) and was delineated over the entire length of the survey. The anomaly is open to the west. Geophysicists have modelled the anomaly’s signature and have selected two priority targets. The targets on this conductor are situated such that the drill holes can test the polymetalic VMS potential and then be drilled further south to intersect the gold-bearing North Dyke Zone and South Dyke Zone. The President and CEO of Cartier, Philippe Cloutier, states that “drilling the multiple targets which have been identified in this very prospective environment is an excellent start for 2010. MacCormack continues to provide geological evidence for significant gold and base metal potential and we believe that aggressive drilling of these discoveries can rapidly lead this project to the front of the pack.” The ease of access and lay of the ground allows Cartier to work the property on a year-round basis for trenching and drilling. Quality Assurance/Quality Control The MacCormack exploration program is conducted under the supervision of Mr. Philippe Berthelot, P. Geo., qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d’Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories. -30- For further information please contact: Philippe Cloutier President and CEO Cartier Resources Inc.
