Cartier Announces More Drill Results From New VMS Discovery

Val-d’Or, Quebec, February 22, 2010 – Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) (“Cartier”) is pleased to announce a second massive sulphide drill hole intersection located on the Xstrata Option project. Drill hole XTA-10-01 returned values of 0.51% Cu, 0.49% Zn and 7.46 g/t Ag over 1.20 m including 1.29% Cu, 0.67% Zn, 17.20 g/t Ag and 0.20 g/t Au over 0.40 m. This new intersection confirms the strike extension of the VMS discovery (refer to December 2, 2009 press release) over 400 meters to the west of the original discovery. To date, Cartier has drilled four holes spaced over a one kilometre strike, of which three of these holes intersected massive sulphides. The drill hole that did not intersect mineralization was cut by a diabase dyke. Subsequent borehole EM surveying of this drill hole indicated an off-hole anomaly below and east of the hole. All four drill holes are relatively shallow and borehole EM surveying indicates that the bulk of the conductor (VMS mineralization) is further at depth. “Independent government and academic geologists have recently confirmed that the geological setting on our MacCormack project is a Kidd Creek type environment,” commented Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier. “The results from these new drill holes support these findings as they show a wide footprint of a new polymetalic copper-zinc-silver and gold mineralization.” Drilling is currently in progress. The ease of access and lay of the ground allows Cartier to work the property on a year-round basis for trenching and drilling. Quality Assurance/Quality Control The MacCormack exploration program is conducted under the supervision of Mr. Philippe Berthelot, P. Geo., qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d’Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories. About Cartier Resources Inc. Cartier is a mineral exploration company that is mainly focussed on making gold discoveries in the prolific mining friendly Abitibi Greenstone Belt. Cartier made three significant discoveries in 2009 and has staked large land packages in the Province of Quebec. -30- For further information please contact: Philippe Cloutier President and CEO Cartier Resources Inc.
