Dr. Gaétan Lavallière Joins Cartier Team

Val-d’Or, Quebec, September 7th, 2011 – Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) (“Cartier”) is pleased to announce that Gaétan Lavallière, P.Geo., PhD, joins the Cartier team as Vice-president Corporate Development. M. Lavallière, holds a doctorate degree in metalogeny and exploration strategy from l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. He brings over 25 years of expertise in exploration mining development to the company.

From 1985 to 1994, Gaétan worked for Noranda inc. Horne Division, Selbaie Mines and Noranda Minerals, Matagami Division. From 1994 to 2006, he was Regional Exploration Manager for the Chibougamau and Val-d’Or districts for SOQUEM INC. then 2006-2007 as Exploration Manager for Canadian Royalties. Since 2007 Gaétan acted as General Manager for GROUPE MISA; a business network of experts focussed on the advancement of mining equipment and innovative solutions and services in order to ensure sustainable development of the mining industry.

Mr. Lavallière has also been awarded several prestigious prizes and fellowships, notably, the Barlow Medal of the Canadian Institute of Mines, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

Mr. Lavallière’s mandates within Cartier will include proactive monitoring of business opportunities, development of the corporate strategies and practices, « in-house expert consulting » for the exploration team and will aid in liaising with government, various associations, contractors and research consortiums and facilities.

The Company grants Mr. Lavallière options to purchase up to 100,000 common shares of the Company. Pursuant to the terms of the Company’s stock option plan, each option grants the holder of such option the right to purchase a common share of the Company at a price of $0.41 per share no later than September 6th, 2016.
