Cartier cuts 618.5 g/t (18.0 oz/t) Silver in drilling

Val-d’Or, Quebec, May 5th, 2011 – Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) (« Cartier ») is pleased to announce the discovery by drilling of a high grade silver vein on the Xstrata-Option property and proximal to the Porcupine-Destor gold corridor. Sampling returned up to 618.5 g/t Ag (18.0 oz/t) and 0.31 % Cu over 0.5 meter. A section over 1.0 meter adjacent to the vein could not be recuperated during drilling. The true thickness of the zone is to be confirmed by future drilling undertaken by Cartier shortly. The high grades were cut at a vertical depth of 12 meters which explains low core recovery. A geophysical anomaly coincides with the discovery. The silver-rich vein is located 300 meters north of the 2010 VMS drill hole intersection which returned up to 0.51% Cu, 7.46 g/t Ag, 0.49% Zn over 1.2 meter, including 1.29% Cu, 17.20 g/t Ag, 0.67% Zn over 0.4 meter (DDH XTA-10-01). This new discovery was cut in the first hole of a 4000-meter drilling program conducted on the Xstrata-Option property. Cartier plans to test promising new geophysical targets in the southern portion of the property. According to Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier “This recent discovery, combined with drilling results from last year clearly demonstrates the discovery potential of precious and base metals mineralization in this area of the Porcupine-Destor fault.” Figure: Location of the new silver discovery Quality Assurance/Quality Control The exploration program and the technical information presented in this press release have been reviewed and approved by Mr. Philippe Berthelot, P. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d’Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories. -30- For further information please contact: Philippe Cloutier President and CEO Cartier Resources Inc.
