Cartier Cuts 392.10 g/t Silver on Cadillac Extension

Val-d’Or, Quebec, August 18th, 2011 – Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) (“Cartier”) is pleased to announce silver and gold results from channel samples on the Cadillac Extension project located 115 kilometers east of Val-d’Or in the province of Quebec. A channel returned up to 392.10 g/t silver and 1.22 g/t gold over 1.0 meter included within a wider interval of 7.0 meters grading 109.26 g/t silver and 0.95 g/t gold also including 89.78 g/t silver and 1.32 g/t gold over 1.0 meter. A second channel returned 80.73 g/t silver and 0.99 g/t gold over 7.0 meters including 79.40 g/t silver and 3.40 g/t gold over 1.0 meter, and a third returned 152.00 g/t silver and 3.39 g/t gold over 1.0 meter. This mineralization was outlined by systematic channel sampling of the Langlade polymetalic zone (refer to Cartier’s August 11th, 2011 press release). Over seven channels cut the unit over a strike distance of 150 meters. The mineralization remains open laterally and at depth (refers to figure). There are over 270 results pending, especially for copper, zinc and silver of the total samples sent for the Langlade site. The silver and gold bearing mineralized zone presented in this press release hosts 2-4% sulphides (locally up to10%) and is restricted to a horizon altered to anthophyllite-biotite-garnet. The mineralized zone is enriched near fold structures. This zone is peripheral to the copper-zinc mineralization reported in the August 11th 2011 press release. See table attached Note: The sample lengths presented in this table are those of the channel samples generally taken perpendicular to the mineralization. Due to complex folding some channel samples cut the mineralization longitudinally. The real true thickness, which would take into account the varying dip, cannot be calculated at this time. “Higher grades in copper, in zinc, in gold and in silver associated with distinct horizons add potential to the zone.” commented Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier, adding, “the systematic approach of the work has helped define high potential targets and will optimize the next phases of geophysics and drilling”. Geo., President and CEO. Mr. Cloutier is a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. The Cadillac Extension exploration program is conducted under the supervision of Mr. Berthelot, Vice President – Exploration. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Assay samples are taken from drill core sawed in half with one half sent to a commercial laboratory and the other half retained for future reference. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. (ACTLABS) in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d’Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories. -30- Contact Information Philippe Cloutier President and CEO Cartier Resources Inc. 819 874-1331 819 874-3113 (FAX) info@ressourcescartier.com www.ressourcescartier.com The TSX Venture Exchange does not accept responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this press release.
