Understanding Key Risks and Realities in Today’s Junior Mining Sector – Resource Talks – VRIC 2026

Philipe Resource Talks At Pdac2026 1280x

Philippe joins Resource Talks at the VRIC 2026 to talk about 2026 the Key Risks and Realities in Today’s Junior Mining

Watch the interview

The junior mining sector currently faces heightened risks driven by strong market enthusiasm and excess capital. Large amounts of money are flowing into the sector without adequate due diligence, increasing the prevalence of hype‑driven “pump and dump” stories and exposing retail investors to disappointment. At the same time, despite abundant funding, the industry is constrained by a limited talent pool, including shortages of drillers, engineers, metallurgists, and environmental specialists. This bottleneck means fewer projects will realistically advance to development or become major success stories, contrary to investor expectations.

For new investors, the key risk lies in believing stories that seem too good to be true. The recommended approach is to focus on people and capital discipline—management teams with proven track records, backing from strategic investors, and efficient use of capital on drilling and project advancement rather than promotion.

For Cartier, the main risk is visibility: its technically strong story risks being overshadowed by aggressively promoted speculative projects.
