Interview with Philippe Cloutier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cartier Resources – Le Citoyen

Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier Resources, is also the company’s founder. Established in 2007 and based in Val-d’Or, Cartier focuses on the Québec portion of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. With over 25 years of experience in mining exploration across North and South America, Mr. Cloutier previously held roles with Noranda, SOQUEM and Aur Resources before launching his own consulting firm and, ultimately, Cartier Resources.
A major turning point came in 2013 with the acquisition of the former Chimo Mine, followed by a strategic investment from Agnico Eagle in 2016. This positioned Cartier as a prominent junior explorer and enabled significant capital raises. In recent years, Cartier consolidated a large land package along the Cadillac Fault, becoming the only junior company in a district dominated by major producers. With strong cash reserves, multiple gold targets and a rising gold price environment, Cartier is advancing a cohesive vision for the Cadillac Project as a future mining camp.
